Licensing: BetMGM UK is structurally a LeoVegas product, BetMGM US is a different operator

This is the most important structural fact about BetMGM and the one most likely to confuse customers. UK BetMGM and US BetMGM are not the same operator. They share branding, a JV ownership structure, and an MGM Resorts brand-licensing relationship. They do not share UKGC versus state regulatory authority, customer wallets, account credentials, loyalty programmes, or promotional eligibility.

Entain acquired LeoVegas Group AB in September 2022 for $607 million, taking LeoVegas private from the Nasdaq First North Stockholm listing. UK BetMGM therefore runs on LeoVegas's existing UKGC account 39198 platform infrastructure, with BetMGM brand licensing from BetMGM LLC (the US JV). Customers see "BetMGM" branding but the operator entity is LeoVegas Gaming plc.

The Apple App Store demonstrates the corporate split. The UK iOS app "BetMGM Casino UK" is published by LeoVegas Gaming plc (Apple-verified). UKGC United Kingdom — Entain plc £17 million settlement, August 2022. UKGC fined Entain plc £17 million for AML and social responsibility failings across the group's UKGC-licensed online and retail brands (Ladbrokes, Coral, Foxy Bingo, among others). At the time, the largest UKGC enforcement action in history. Breakdown: £14 million for online failings, £3 million for retail failings. UKGC publicly stated it gave "serious consideration to licence suspension."
